Julian Dismore

Managing Director

As well as making award winning factual TV programmes and public speaking, Julian runs online and in-person training courses for Direct Productions, the company he founded in 2005. Julian has travelled the world directing hit programmes for BBC1, Netflix, ITV, Channel 4, Five, Discovery US, National Geographic and Animal Planet amongst others, and specialises in wildlife, documentary and current affairs programmes. Credits include Missing Mums (Sky One), The Mega Council Estate Next Door and Benefits By The Sea: Jaywick (Five & Discovery), Caught Red Handed, Real Lives Reunited and First Time On The Front Line (BBC1), O’Shea’s Dangerous Reptiles (Channel 4/Animal Planet), Game Rangers: South Africa (National Geographic), Skin Deep (Discovery and ITV) and Click for Murder (Netflix)/CBS Reality. 

Julian leads the Direct Productions team of web video producers and training experts. He has been training TV production and web video presenting skills for over 20 years. As well as conducting workshops in camera skills, research skills, editing skills and presenting skills, Julian has a strong track record helping people get their first break in TV - and then excelling in their careers once they are in.

Julian is also experienced in helping academics, lawyers and business professionals improve their web video and webinar skills. He enjoys helping people come across well on platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams, skills which have become essential in the post-Covid era. As a public speaker Julian has entertained audiences in the House of Commons, numerous sports clubs, cruise ships and universities - and most terrifyingly the Leeds Women’s Institute!

Ellie Back

Head of Marketing

 

Ellie is the head of the marketing team at Direct Productions. As well as leading the team, Ellie focusses on Instagram as well as Twitter, recording video packages for the ‘Job Alert Thursday’ feature. Ellie has subsequently developed her editing and presenting skills whilst producing this feature weekly. 

Other media experience includes being ‘Head of Sport’ for a Youth Demographic Digital Station, as well as work experience stints at the BBC and Sky. Ellie has also written articles for a University magazine and a financial magazine, New Model Advisor.

Jonathan Mullen

Producer - Direct Productions TV (YouTube)

Working in Glasgow’s thriving television industry since 2013, Jonathan brings his skills and knowledge in video and audio production to Direct Productions UK as head of the Video Team.

As well as acquiring content, Jonathan employs his post-production abilities to editing content including media skills tips, highlights from Julian's career, and snippets from Julian's talks and workshops. 

Jonathan has worked with the Royal Television Society, Chalkboard Television Production, and Stirling City Radio, amongst others. He has also worked on 48-hour film festivals and written for Big Comic Page.

Jonathan is highly effective in creating new content in order to spread the word about Julian Dismore’s courses through the Direct Productions TV YouTube channel.

Stephanie Raxworthy

Marketing Assistant

Steph is a media graduate with a first-class honours degree from Sheffield Hallam University.

She has experience in radio including presenting shows on her student radio and in television: producing news programmes, filming television packages, and as a runner.

In Social media she has a strong track record being the lead of the social media pages for a Leicestershire tourist attraction and TikTok  content creator for a well-known food company.

Steph is co-lead of Direct Productions’ Twitter and Instagram accounts and often films and edits videos for the company’s TikTok page.

Grace Hopkinson

Marketing Assistant

Grace is head of the Direct Productions Tiktok account. She films and edits TikTok content about the Television industry.

The videos are a mix up of helpful TV job hunting tips and how to be successful once you’re in. In addition Grace produces funny relatable TikToks about the struggles and achievements of bagging yourself a job.

Grace is a media graduate with a Upper-Second Class honours degree from Sheffield Hallam University. She has experience in television: producing news programmes, as a runner, filming packages, including presenting a thirty-minute news programme aired on Sheffield Live.

In social media Grace has extensive experience working with major clothing and skincare brands to create content and promote their latest products.

James Howard

Producer and Marketing Assistant

Having graduated from an industry accredited course at Solent University, James brings a wide variety of skills to help multiple teams at Direct Productions UK. Leading the LinkedIn team and being co-lead of the Video team means he is at the forefront of content creation and new marketing strategies.

His experience with working for clients on both pre-recorded and live broadcast TV, ranges from producing documentaries and promotional miniseries to being a Runner/Camera OP for the International Horse Trials and he is soon to be directing the live broadcast of Boardmasters 2021 festival.

James’ unique selling experience and skills makes him highly proficient in creating new content, ideas and strategies to increase interest in Direct Productions UK and Julian Dismore’s courses.
